Hargreaves Family Grant: Won-Ldy Paye - African Artist and Storyteller In-Residence Experience

Won-Ldy Paye, an award winning storyteller, artist, performer and children's book author from Africa, will visit Bugbee Elementary School for a five day residency. First grade students will have a daily visit from Won-Ldy that will include storytelling, African map knowledge, music and art. Won-Ldy will share museum quality masks, demonstrate musical instruments and tell stories from his home country of Liberia. Each day students will collaborate on playing 4 part rhythms with drums, bells and rattles from Africa as well as create a variety of art. He brings a diverse perspective and background which he shares with students through his storytelling and art. Parents and caregivers will be invited to the final day of his residency to observe and participate in making music.
