"This is Your Hometown" is a project that aims to connect newly arrived immigrant students with their new hometown of West Hartford. Students will visit and learn about educational and leisure facilities in town including: Westmoor Park, the West Hartford Children's Museum, Veteran's Ice Skating Rink, the West Hartford Public Library and Elizabeth Park. Students will study the history of Connecticut agriculture, wildlife and vegetation, as well as the winter activity of ice skating. Students will also learn about the valuable resources available to them from the West Hartford Public Library and be issued library cards to encourage future use of these services. The goal of this project is to help students and families more acclimated and feel a sense of belonging to our community.
