JP Carroll Roofing Grant: Making Our Mark in the Makerspace: Laser Engraving for Innovative Exploration

  • School Year: 2024-2025
  • Applicants: Shannon McNeice, Lead Applicant
  • School: Sedgwick Middle School
  • Subjects: Visual Arts, Science, Technology, STEAM

Our project will fund the purchase of a Glowforge Aura laser engraver to enhance our library makerspace, allowing students to apply STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) concepts in creative, hands-on ways. This tool will empower students to design, build, and explore while deepening their understanding of curriculum topics through active participation. The engraver will support interdisciplinary projects, making connections between subjects like science, math, and the arts, while encouraging collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. With your support, we will equip students with the tools they need to transform ideas into innovative projects, preparing them for future academic and career success.
