The "Learning Through Purposeful Play" grant provides our Aiken Kindergarten students with hands-on experiences through play-based learning materials that will guide their creativity, imagination, discourse, problem solving, and joy in learning. Effective July 1st, 2023, the state of CT passed a law requiring that “Each local and regional board of education shall provide play-based learning during the instructional time of each regular school day for all students in kindergarten”. This use of these grant-funded materials and play-based learning structure is aligned to Kindergarten science/engineering, language and social-emotional learning standards that advance our West Hartford Public Schools Vision of the Graduate and enliven and enhance the student learning experience.
