Rocktaschel Family Grant: Playwriting and Performance Festival

This grant is a cooperative project between a playwriting artist-in-residence, students from Conard and Hall High Schools, and the Playhouse on Park. The grant will support a playwriting project for students who get to work with peers at another school in town. Students from both schools will work together over the course of several weeks to discuss, write, and revise scripts, while trading them with each other to have them directed and performed by others at staged reading. They will be guided through the writing and revision process by a professional playwright. The project culminates with a free evening of original short plays performed as staged readings at the Playhouse, open to the public and will include a talkback discussion afterwards with students and audience members. A printed anthology of all scripts will be created and distributed to all participating students and their school libraries.
