In this grant, which bridges equity gaps in support for first-generation college students, 40 students from both West Hartford high schools will visit Central Connecticut State University and attend a session with their Educational Opportunity Program. This visit will help students from underrepresented backgrounds successfully transition to college, extending the existing school curriculum by offering students real-world exposure to higher education in a hands-on, innovative way. By focusing on first-generation students, this visit will help develop critical skills and foster academic achievement, enriching the classroom experience and ensuring that students are better prepared for their post-secondary plans.
