Tresselt Family Grant: Code, Cook, and Create-Author Josh Funk's Interdisciplinary Literacy Experience

This grant will bring nationally recognized children’s author Josh Funk to Morley School for a half-day, two-part presentation for all K–5 students. In sessions for grades K–2, Mr. Funk will use his Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast series to introduce the writing process, focusing on character development and story structure. For grades 3–5, he will draw on his coding-themed books to connect narrative writing with computational thinking. This experience strengthens literacy instruction, builds interdisciplinary STEAM skills, and promotes engagement by providing all students with equitable access to an inspiring, real-world author visit.
