Hawkins Family Grant: Won-Ldy Paye- African Artist and Storyteller In-Residence

Won-Ldy Paye, award winning storyteller, artist, performer and children's book author will visit Bugbee Elementary School for a 5 day residency. First grade students will have a daily visit by Won-Ldy that will include storytelling, African map knowledge, music and art. Won-Ldy will share museum quality masks and tell stories from his home country of Liberia. Each day students will collaborate on playing 4-part rhythms with drums, bells and rattles from Africa as well as creating a variety of art. Parents and caregivers will be invited to the final day of his residency to observe and participate in making music.
