- School: King Philip Middle School
- Subjects: Visual Arts
Students at King Philip and Sedgwick will participate in a wonderful opportunity to work with local artist, Amy Genser to create a collaborative art piece using her unique paper rolling sculpture technique. Amy creates depth in her work with different sized rolls of layered mulberry paper that are then cut into smaller sections. Her work is inspired by geography , especially aerial or satellite views. Amy will spend 2 days at each school guiding the students as they first make sketches based on aerial views of West Hartford neighborhoods and then creating a finished piece using paper rolls that are inspired by the sketches. .The completed project will be on display at each school's annual art show as well as at the townwide Artbeat exhibit.
