This grant funds seven mahjong sets that will be utilized year after year by Chinese program at Hall High School . In addtional to the engaging communicative actitivies in a world language classroom, it's the authentic cultural experiences that leave students with a life long impact. This ancient Chinese tile game provides a perfect opportunity where students can both practice the language and learn traditional Chinese beliefs incorporated in the game. What's more rewarding than the prospect that one day our students can naturally engage with the Chinese locals as they join a mahjong game on the street of Beijing and form a relationship from there?
