Macca Plumbing & Heating Grant: Introducing Biotechnology in the Science Classroom

To align with Next Generation Science Standards and to enhance all students' laboratory experiences at Hall High School, this grant will fund up-to-date biotechnology equipment. Gel electrophoresis equipment will be purchased to be utilized in the classroom to provide students a shared learning experience of using biotechnology. The students will use the equipment in a variety of contexts including but not limited to: forensic testing; genetic diagnosis; and investigating CRISPR. The use of the gel electrophoresis equipment will engage the students in real life science, which will help prepare them for their future endeavors, and enable them to see the intersection of math, science, engineering, and bioethics.
