First graders at Whiting Lane Elementary School will “Shuffle Along” to improved reading comprehension through the purchase of 12 2GB iPod Shuffles to enhance reading fluency and comprehension. Comprehension and fluency are essential for students to become good readers. Students will focus on syntax and appropriate phrasing while listening repeatedly to predetermined text levels. Students, when matched with appropriate leveled materials will experience a high rate of successful responding, and in turn will gain the most from their learning time. This project will enhance overall reading comprehension by improving fluency and vocabulary.
