The Sound of Science is a grant designed to enhance the science units of fourth grade Whiting Lane students. The program allows fifty-six students a unique opportunity to participate in hands-on inquiry based science programs five times a year. Each learning opportunity ranges in length from sixty to ninety minutes and encourages critical thinking and incorporates the scientific practices and cross cutting concepts of the Next Generation Science Standards. Educators are in a unique position of training scholars for careers and opportunities that have not yet been created. Our greatest tool to assist students is the development of critical thinking and inquiry skills. These transcend any specific career goals and build resilient thinkers. Elevating our science curriculum with these programs affords students the opportunity to engage in these practices.
