Anne & Jim Carroll Grant: Who's Behind the Mask?

This grant project will expand student’s ability to understand and use masks by starting with a neutral masks (blank mask with no expressions) and will finish with fully developed characters and full monologue performances. It aligns with the very unique unit in the high school Acting 1 curriculum masking unit. Students at Conard High School will be exposed to a professional working artist in the field, Adelka Polak. She is founder of Sova Dance & Puppet Theater, a dancer, puppeteer, mask-performer and movement director. Adelka will conduct a full day in residence workshop to 9th – 12th graders.
