This unique and innovative project unites English as a second language, science, technology, community resources, and family engagement in a thematic based experiential adventure program that will make learning fun for English Language Learners (ELLs). Up to 50 students will enhance their English, Science and Technology proficiencies through “adventures” visiting local community resources. Over the course of six to seven weeks, English Learners from across all grade levels at Wolcott Elementary School will visit three different locations (Faxon Library, Westmoor Park, and the Children’s Museum), with in-school meetings between to discuss the adventure, practice new vocabulary, and create a demonstration of their learning. Our focus will be on the environment, and how we can help protect our earth. On visits, student videographers will record highlights of the trips for reference and use in their projects. Students will be engaged in conversations to enhance their vocabulary and knowledge of our earth and environment.
