Catherine and Martin Woods Family Grant: Building Cultural Appreciation for Indigenous Peoples through Storytelling

The Red Hawk Singers and Dancers led by Cheenulka Pocknett will be provide a two week residency at Charter Oak International Academy elementary school and Braeburn Elementary School in the 2019-2020 school year. All students, in both schools, grades K through 5 will experience traditional Wampanoag storytelling, song and dance illustrating the indigenous culture of this area's values. Students in both schools will connect to discuss their learning and how these traditional tales compare and contrast to the values and traditions they are learning in their homes and school communities.
