Civic Participation Grant: Hiking the Freedom Trail

As an integral part of a study unit of the American Revolution and as a result of this grant, 5th grade students from Wolcott Elementary School will hike the Freedom Trail in Boston. The children will have studied the sights they will visit in books, online resources and a colonial simulation game. As they hike the Trail they will act as “experts” while experiencing first hand sights including the USS Constitution, the Boston Common, Old North Church, Faneuil Hall, several graveyards and Paul Revere’s home. The unit will culminate in a final project.
