This grant will support the new CCSS standards in Language Arts and Technology integration for the fifth grade students at Morley. Kindle Fire Tablets and the Storia eReading App from Scholastic will be purchased to be used during small group reading time where students share a common text and then meet with the teacher to discuss the text. Using this technology will benefit reluctant readers as well as less proficient readers as it differentiates learning for individual students. In addition it will increase the independence of students will specific disabilities. Teachers will be able to monitor comprehension, time read, speed of reading and vocabulary development.
