The Sedgwick Middle School library serves as a sanctuary for many students, offering a brief respite from their bustling daily routines. To promote excellence and enhance the learning experience, the library would like to provide a sensory wall of soothing, tactile activities that students can engage with in order to feel calm and centered. Sensory walls have been shown to reduce anxiety and encourage interaction. This dedicated wall space will be created with various tactile features that invite students to explore their senses. Some areas will be purely for tactile experience, while there will also be STEM and literacy areas. All staff will be invited to utilize the wall for their students. Some of the panels will change throughout the year with tactile, STEM, and Literacy focus points.
