Dr. Robert and Gladys Dunn Memorial Grant: Life in West Hartford: Getting Local History into the schools

This grant at Hall High School will enhance the teaching of West Hartford history in the classroom. The State of Connecticut Social Studies Frameworks calls for local history to be integrated into the history curriculum at all levels. Town Historian Tracey Wilson's new book, Life in West Hartford, will be distributed to each school library, to US History teachers, and to 4th and 5th grade teachers. These materials can be used by students to develop research projects on a variety of topics such as colonial West Hartford, slavery, the Great Depression, etc. Teachers will then have a chance to reflect on how they used the book over the year.
