Dr. Robert & Gladys Dunn Grant: Sharing Literature Builds Community

This grant will fund the purchase of 50 copies of three books for grades 6, 7, & 8 in the King Philip Middle School community to share. The books will be shared with the entire community including parents. Author ‘Skype’ conversations will be used along with electronic and audio copies of the books. This initiative strives to heighten an appreciation for the value of reading and cultivate a school communitywide love of reading while engaging reluctant readers. The project will provide students an opportunity to discuss their reactions and insights while participating in discourse and exchanges that positively affect school culture and climate.
