Reading specialists at Sedgwick Middle School are supporting over 90 students annually in grades 6-8 through targeted intervention, and they're about to get a boost thanks to an exciting new grant-funded initiative. This project brings interactive, research-backed literacy games into reading support classrooms to make skill-building more engaging and effective. Aligned with Scarborough's Reading Rope model, the games focus on strengthening essential reading components like decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. By combining fun, hands-on learning with targeted instruction, the initiative aims to motivate struggling readers and accelerate their progress. Designed for flexible use across various skill levels for years to come, the games will help create a more dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Reading specialists at Sedgwick are excited to use these innovative tools to close reading gaps and foster lasting literacy success.
