Goldbeck Family Grant: Bringing Art to Life in New York City

  • School Year: 2024-2025
  • Applicants: Tara Ehler, Lead Applicant & Jason Lussier, Asia Clermont (Hall High)
  • School: Conard High School
  • Subjects: Visual Arts, Social Studies, Diversity/Equity

This grant will allow students from Conard and Hall High Schools, who have studied art at various points in the year through multiple disciplines, to travel to New York City to see the artwork they've been studying live and in person! Their teachers will lead them on tours throughout the museum to see the most important and iconic artwork they have chosen ahead of time from their area of study. Prior to the trip, students will plan their own itinerary. Using the Met Collection and current exhibition as a guide, they will identify the works they want to see and plan their own tour. Students will practice their visual analysis skills as well, using the artwork as sources of information and inspiration. After the visit, they will walk across the street for a picnic in Central Park before returning to West Hartford. All in all, it will be a day the students never forget!
