Goldbeck Family Grant: Hands on Literacy Learning Centers
- School Year: 2021-2022
- Applicants: Elysha Green, Lead Teacher
- School: Webster Hill
- Subjects: Language Arts
This grant provides the funds to buy materials to build a collection of hands on literacy centers that will allow the kindergarten students at Webster Hill Elementary School to employ a variety of learning modalities while also practicing their developing literacy skills, incorporating fine motor skills, and experiencing the joy that comes with play-based learning. The materials purchased with this grant will stock our school's three kindergarten classrooms with materials they need to incorporate play into centers where students can work independently, enhancing their learning and allowing the teachers to meet with small groups. The materials will support the literacy objectives as well as motor skills and social emotional learning (ie: taking turns, playing fairly and honestly, having good sportsmanship, being a good partner). This grant helps our kindergarten students meet their learning objectives while also laying the foundation for a lifetime love of learning.
