Greenspan Family Grant: You are You! I am Me! Exploring Community Diversity!

This is a time in the lives of our children when they are exploring, asking questions, and trying to make sense of their world along with understanding their and others' perspectives. This grant affords 48 Pre-k children at Webster Hill elementary school to books, puzzles, games and dolls depicting the uniqueness of all our community. It allows all of our children and their families to feel represented and respected in each classroom. We explore feelings and provide strategies and ideas for managing feelings appropriately throughout the school year. We highlight the similarities and differences among each of our families and community members discussing family makeup, celebrations, culture, likes, and dislikes. In school it is so important for children to feel respected and welcomed where they spend so much of their time!
