Michael Dauria of Health Education Services will lead a series of workshops for 330 8th-graders at King Philip Middle School on Social Emotional Learning. Dauria uses his NIH evidence-based, mind-body activity program to reduce stress, increase awareness, and develop self-control, all of which are linked to increasing success in student learning. Afterward, students will experience improved mood, relaxation, better focus, and improved response to stressors, all of which will lead to improved focus and attention, self-regulating behavior, and a more positive attitude and a willingness to participate and enjoy learning in every subject. These skills will stay with the students through their high school years and beyond.
