Students in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Grades 1,2,3,4, and 5 at Whiting Lane Elementary School will benefit from a visit by author Dana Meachen Rau. Her non-fiction books are beloved by the children and with the common core standards requiring all of the grades to work on non-fiction writing, she can be an effective mentor for the students. Plans are for her to visit the school in the beginning of the school year to be part of the introduction of Maker Space. Her books demonstrate the scientific process and will allow children to understand the writing process as compared to the scientific process.
