- School: Bugbee
- Subjects: Social Studies
Colleen Casey-Nelson, world music specialist from CCSU and the Hartt School of Music, known for her multi-cultural music with children, will emphasize Japanese songs, stories, and dances with second grade students at Bugbee. For a day during the Social Studies International Study of Japan, she will lead students through a variety of hands-on Japanese activities. Students will dress in authentic Japanese outfits, be exposed to Taiko drumming, and learn traditional Japanese songs and dances. Japanese storytelling will be an additional component to this day. These experiences will enhance the children's understanding of the Japanese culture and bring to life what they have been learning in the classroom.
