Bugbee Elementary School students in grade K, 1 and 2 as well as special education students will utilize the motivating on-line program Raz-Kids to support their reading development. Students will have an individualized account which gives them access to leveled fiction and non-fiction books. Students can listen to books, read them independently, and then take a comprehension quiz to assess their understanding of the book. Teachers of these students will also access Reading A to Z which is an on-line resource that gives teachers access to leveled books which can be printed, projectable books to use with the Smartboard for group instruction, and other instructional materials which can be used in small group guided reading lessons. Both printed materials and the on-line books can be used at home to strengthen the home-school reading partnership. These resources will help our primary level students build their oral reading fluency, decoding skills, vocabulary and comprehension strategies.
