This grant will allow Kindergarten teachers at Wolcott to implement a “block team” play-based learning structure in support of our new Connecticut play-based learning legislation (PA 23-159 effective July 1, 2024). The block team learning structure requires that all students have access to high-quality wooden block sets to design and build models of architectural structures that students select from their own experience or photos from the local community and around the world. Each classroom will receive a core set of wooden blocks and a set of blocks with unique tunnels and arches. All students will have an opportunity to participate in at least one block team during the school year using these grant-funded materials.
