Lexham West Hartford Grant: Engaging Every Learner, Hands-On Math Centers for Thinking Classrooms
- School Year: 2025-2026
- Applicants: Elysha Green, Debbie Stolstrom
- School: Webster Hill
- Subjects: Math, STEAM
Third graders at Webster Hill will deepen their mathematical thinking by engaging in hands-on math centers, designed around the foundations of Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC). Students will build fluency, strengthen problem-solving strategies, and expand their mathematical vocabulary using interactive materials and structured partner and group tasks. The centers will promote collaboration, critical thinking, and active mathematical discourse while allowing students to work at varying levels of challenge based on their individual needs. Magnetic and hands-on tools will support active, visual learning and provide multiple entry points for all students. This dynamic, inclusive project will help all students, including multilingual learners, build confidence, collaborate with peers, and develop a deeper understanding of math.
