Margaret N. and Adrian Selby Grant: Interdisciplinary Visual Thinking Strategies with Real Life Applications

In coordination with the typical art curriculum, this grant funds access to Visual Thinking Strategies, a program that teaches third graders at Norfeldt Elementary School how to “read” artwork. Students will use VTS to analyze a broad array of works of art to uncover story elements such as character, setting, plot, tone, and point of view, all while citing evidence using VTS. The grant also funds a trip to the New Britain Museum of Art to allow students a real-life application of the skills they will develop throughout the school year.
