NBMAA Museum Exploration and Studio Session
- School Year: 2025-2026
- Applicants: Elizabeth Bianco
- School: Bugbee
- Subjects: Visual Arts
To enrich the Visual Arts experience of Bugbee’s upper elementary students, all fifth graders will visit the New Britain Museum of American Art, where they will explore works that connect to curricula across subject areas. Students will study Hudson River School paintings to learn about Western Expansion and examine exhibits representing periods from Colonial times to the modern day through various media. They will also learn how the Elements of Art can be used to communicate messages, convey emotion, and tell stories. Through this experience, students will gain a deeper understanding of the role of the visual arts in the human experience. Bugbee’s young artists will participate in a guided studio session, where they will apply their learning by creating an original work of art. With support from a professional instructor, students will engage in the creative process while integrating new learning with their Math or Language Arts curriculum.
