Students in sixth grade at Sedgwick Middle School will participate in a unique collaboration between art and the library media center to explore 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point perspective. First, students learn about perspective and create line drawings in art class. Next, students create original architectural structures on a Minecraft map stored on the library’s MinecraftEDU server. Finally, students take photographs of their structures from 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point perspective. To provide students with a true 3-D perspective and artistic creation opportunity, we will extend this project to include 3-D printing of student Minecraft structures. This program supports West Hartford District Goal, National Art Standards and ISTE Technology Standards.
