The funding for this grant provides Duffy Elementary with the necessary resources to create an Equity, Diversity and Social Justice Gallery. This art gallery will hang in the main hallway of our school, providing access for 400 Duffy students, kindergarten through fifth grade, to view daily. We will create a space so art can be used to teach tolerance and acceptance for all people. The gallery will showcase ten to twelve artists from around the world, as selected by Duffy’s Visual Arts Teacher, Liz Schott. Mrs. Schott will select artists based on a diverse representation of gender, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and art work which evokes strong messages about community, native cultures, identity and equality.
