Reading From A to Z

This grant will provide the 1st grade teachers at Bugbee Elementary School with two on-line resources, Reading A to Z and Raz-Kids, to support the implementation of the English/Language Arts Common Core Standards. These on-line resources will support instruction, student learning and provide a home-school connection. Reading A to Z will allow teachers to access leveled readers to be used in small, guided reading groups. In addition, these leveled readers can be printed and sent home for additional reading practice. Teachers will use Raz-Kids to set up individual accounts for each to student to access both at school and at home. These accounts can be customized to the student ‘s reading level and teachers will have access to reports that track what and how often the children are reading, as well as how they are doing on the comprehension quizzes. Students will increase their reading fluency, and their decoding and comprehension skills through the use of the materials and on-line resources provided by this grant.
