Rebecca Pauluk Grant: Differentiating Math Instruction in the Elementary Classroom
- School Year: 2014-2015
- Applicants: Leslie Bates, Lead Teacher
- School: Duffy
- Subjects: Math
A major focus of the grade 5 math curriculum is fractions. This grant will provide the teachers at Duffy Elementary School with iPads to use as a tool to differentiate their math instruction based on the diverse needs of their students. The iPad applications to be employed are designed to focus on conceptual understanding and computation of fractions. Students will work independently at a math center and will build their technological skills and expertise with this learning format.. As students become more confident with their math skills they will use some of the apps to create flipped fraction lessons to share with their peers. Additional centers will be added during the year to connect with other areas of the curriculum.
