This grant will fund Alphabetter Stand-Up desks with Book Box to be used by students in the Strive Alternative West Hartford High School program in 10th, 11th and 12th grade. The desks provide an advantage to students who need to stretch (kinesthetic release) after long periods of sitting completing seatwork. This allows students who have difficulty focusing (overactive) and those who have difficulty staying alert and on task (underactive) alternate positioning options while completing desktop work. Studies show that learning is a multisensory event, and that by engaging all the senses we can increase the likelihood of students retaining the lessons they are learning.
