The Play and Learn Lending Library offers the opportunity for K- 5 students of all socioeconomic backgrounds, English language learners and children with special needs to gain equitable access to a wide variety of developmentally appropriate games and play materials at Wolcott Elementary School. The Play and Learn Lending Library offers the opportunity for families to take part in screen free family time that will enhance relationships and connectivity, while developing communication, math, science, language arts skills, problem solving and fine motor skills, as well as the core social-emotional skills needed to build the resiliency critical to school success. This program additionally supports school readiness skills for preschoolers. Younger children will benefit from learning through game play with their school age siblings. While this grant would fund a game and play item lending library for the 2024 - 2025 school year, it is fully expected that the program and materials will extend beyond next school year into many years to come.
