At Norfeldt School, we recognize that students who struggle with reading may have difficulty fully engaging in the curriculum or demonstrating their knowledge on assignments and assessments, often due to challenges with decoding text. Innovative assistive technology can help address this barrier and promote greater independence. Scanning pens, such as C-Pens, allow students to access grade-level text by scanning printed material and having it read aloud. These tools also include built-in vocabulary support, benefiting all learners as they encounter unfamiliar words. By providing scanning pens, this grant will support struggling readers while enhancing literacy access and engagement for all students at Norfeldt School.
