The Art of Social Skills and Cooking

Students in the STRIVE high school program will have the opportunity to plan and prepare meals once a month from different cultures. The lessons will be facilitated by the resource teacher and psychologist. These activities will promote planning, organization, task initiation, sustained attention and academic skills for the students who have a range of emotional disabilities. In addition, the cooking groups will help the students improve their social interactions and communication skills. These monthly activities will hopefully promote ideas about future career paths as well.
