Exploring the science behind sound and light, the Sonia Plum Dance Company will teach students about vibration, how sound travels through some objects and not others, how light can be opaque, translucent or refracted, and more. Using these concepts, Charter Oak International Academy students then are asked: How do we use light and sound to express emotions and feelings? Why do some sounds aggravate us while others soothe? Do some colors make us sad and others happy? Creative work is developed based on age-appropriate stories. Students use movement and text to create a piece that is enhanced by their choice of music and lighting.
