Biotechnology and the Genome Generation is a shift in the Biology curriculum to better address 21st century skills as well as prepare students for the modern medical world they will soon enter as adults. Genomic sequencing is getting cheaper and faster every year. Their personal genetic information will become a critical part of their own medical care and our students need to understand how that information is gathered and processed and the ethical issues that surround the private genetic testing industry and genetic testing in general. This laboratory equipment will allow more students at all levels of biology, to understand and practice the tools and concepts that the biotech industry will use to change their lives.
