Dynamic author, illustrator and former West Hartford teacher Rick Labadia will lead 2nd graders at Charter Oak Elementary School through an interactive process of writing, illustrating and recording fables. Through several classroom visits, Rick will read well-loved fables to students, engage them in an understanding of the meaning and messages behind these fables and then facilitate through his energetic and artistic approach the creation of individual student fables. Students will verbally share their writing and illustrations in digital presentations to the school’s 1st graders and create treasured books for their families. This hands-on experience with Mr. Labadia exposes students to the rich tradition of fables and the creative process of publishing an original piece.
