Mike Caouette will visit the 3rd-5th grade students at Charter Oak International Academy Elementary School for two (2) sessions with each grade (six (6) sessions total) to provide hands-on, inquiry-based lessons and activities aligned with IB science units. Mike will work with each grade level teaching lessons related to specific science topics and help students better understand abstract concepts by using real world examples and hands-on activities. Students will participate in experiential learning on topics that align with grade level science standards around topics such as: Forces and Motion, Light and Sound, and Electricity and Magnetism. Lessons during these sessions will be based around CT Science Curriculum Standards (2010), Next Generation Science Standards, as well as a focus on the IB Program of Inquiry that emphasizes problem solving and process skills to foster a greater interest in science. After participating in these science sessions with Mike Caouette, students at xxx will have a greater understanding of the larger science concepts and will develop key skills through these hands-on experiences.
