4th graders from Whiting Lane and Morley Elementary Schools will be visited by artist-in-residence guest Jeff Benoit of Arts for Learning Connecticut. Jeffrey Benoit brings classic tales to life through the use of poetry, masks and mime. He also intertwines skillful audience participation to create a fun filled theatrical learning experience for all. The “Chariots of the Sun” program offers a study guide for teachers to review with students prior to the performance to ensure that the audience gets the most out of the performance. Students will read various Greek and Roman myths and discuss the ancient world as presented in each myth. Students will chart the heroes, gods and monsters addressed in each myth. Students will participate in the Chariot of the Sun performance to supplement their knowledge and further their understanding of mythology. This in-residence program will enhance the 4th grade curriculum and will captivate students with the heroes, gods and monsters of Greek mythology.
