Music enrichment groups with a certified music therapist will be provided for the preschool students at Whiting Lane. The music therapist will also provide carryover activities and feedback for the preschool teachers during the year so that they will be able to implement strategies on a regular basis. These music classes will enhance language development, peer interaction, group participation, and alternate communication strategies for non verbal students. Within the sessions with the music therapist the children will sing familiar songs, play instruments, dance, and participate in dramatic activities. The therapist will be able to address the diverse educational needs and learning styles of the students. The children will participate in a culminating activity in order to share their experiences with their families.
