YHB Investment Advisors Grant: Art and Literacy inspired by Animal Symbols and Meanings

7th grade art students at Sedgwick Middle School and 2nd grade students at Smith Elementary School will collaborate with one another through art and literacy. The Sedgwick students will research and create designs based on animal meanings, symbolism and personal connections. These designs will be transformed into a series of reduction block prints. Final prints will be given to Smith 2nd grade classes where students will work to create fables/short stories or poems based on the animal designs. Each child, middle and elementary, will receive the print or writing to pair with their own work and a book will be made of the prints and writing to be kept for each classroom.
