You've Got to Move It, Move It!

Standing desks will be incorporated in the 5 th grade classroom at Morley Elementary School. These desks have a swinging footrest that will allow people to stand and quietly move their feet and focus their attention on the content of the curriculum. Children work for approximately 20 minutes at each station and then rotate to the next assignment. Beyond the standing desks, there will be an active seating model for one of the stations within the classroom. This seating arrangement looks quite like an exercise ball, but with feet, so that the ball can’t roll throughout the room. These desks will help those students who are currently using a tremendous amount of energy trying to remain still, rather than using the same energy to focus on the content.
